Good cough cases are growing, and doctors are tightening another difficult year.

Pennsylvania, one of the countries most hit by the disease last year, recorded 207 cases of good cough in 2025.

Neil Ruhland, a spokesman for the State Health Department, said the largest growths are in populated areas like Philadelphia and Pittsburgh and in high and high schools and colleges. He said 94.6% of state gardens were vaccinated.

Michigan is on the right track for a similar pertussis season with last year, said Dr. Natasha Bagdasarian, chief executive of the medical state. The state has registered 516 cases so far, mainly among children aged 5 to 17, and has seen a total of 2,081 cases in 2024.

“We are looking at Pertussis numbers very carefully, but many of our resources are going out contact by tracing our measles cases now,” she said. “And public health is doing much more with fewer resources in 2025 than we have to do before.”
