A mother of two chatgpt loans to save her life, claiming that the artificial intelligence chatbot flag led to her cancer when doctors lost her.
Lauren Bannon, who shares her time between North Carolina and the US virgin islands, first noticed in February 2024 that she had problems bending her fingers in the morning and evening, as reported by Kennedy News and the media.
After four months, the 40-year-old told doctors that she had rheumatoid arthritis, despite being negatively tested on the condition.
Bannon, who owns a marketing company, then began to experience irritation of stomach aches and lost 14 pounds in just one month, which doctors blamed for acid reflux.
Desperate to determine the cause of its symptoms, Bannon addressed the chatgt, the great language model made by Openai.
Chatbot told Bannon that it may have Hashimoto’s disease, an autoimmune condition where the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks the thyroid gland, making it become inflamed and eventually under the active, according to Kennedy News and the media.
Despite reservations from her doctor, Bannon insisted on being tested for the situation in September 2024 – and was shocked to find out that the chatgt was correct, despite the lack of a family story.
This led doctors to perform an ultrasound of Lauren’s thyroid when they discovered two small bumps in her neck that were confirmed as cancer in October 2024.

Bannon claims she would never have found hidden cancer without the help of chatgpt, which she believes in helping to save her life.
“I felt released by doctors,” Bannon said, as reported by Kennedy News and the media. “It was almost as if they were just trying to give medicines for nothing to put you inside and outside the door.”

Bannon said she had used chatgpt for work. When she asked the chatbot what medical conditions mimic the rheumatoid arthritis, she replied, ‘You may have Hashimoto’s disease, ask your doctor to check the level of your thyroid peroxidase antibodies (TPO). “”
After her diagnosis of cancer in January 2025, Bannon underwent surgery to remove the thyroid and two lymph nodes from her neck. It will now remain under eternal monitoring to ensure that the cancer does not return, according to the report.
Due to the failure to appear with typical symptoms of Hashimoto’s disease, Bannon believes that her condition, and later diagnosis of cancer, would have remained undiscovered without the help of chatgpt.
“I didn’t have the typical symptoms of Hashimoto’s disease – I wasn’t tired or felt exhausted,” she told Kennedy’s news and media.

Dr. Harvey Castro, a Board Certified Medical Physician and National Speaker on Dallas -based artificial intelligence, said he welcomes the role of his tools as a chatgpt in raising awareness and promoting faster actions, but also requires care.
“He is not a replacement for human medical expertise,” he told Fox News Digital. “These tools can help, warn and even comfort – but they cannot diagnose, examine or treat.”
“When used responsibly, it can improve health care results – but when used in isolation, it can be dangerous,” Castro continued. “We need to prioritize the patient’s safety and keep the medical licensed professionals at the center of care.”
