And is it safe? According to a Harvard study, the answer is yes.
Regardless of how they are cooked, some nutrients in the food will break down after being exposed to heat. Good news for microwave fans – they do a better job to store some of the nutrients that a food has as cooking times are generally shorter.
To make things a step further, a person can evaporate his or her microwave food using a small amount of water to store more vitamins and minerals than almost any other cooking method, as explained in the study. Talk about a win.
With all that is said, here are some foods that you can easily cook in a microwave for your next meal.
Asparagus
British chef Silvana Franco explained to the Telegraph a foolish way to cook seasonal vegetables. “Add a few tablespoons of water to a container, trim the asparagus and lie on the plate.”
“Sprinkle with salt and high microwave for two minutes. If it is not yet soft, return to the microwave for another 30 seconds up to a minute.”
