It is an epic battle worthy of Homer.
Hollywood Titans Ralph Fiennes, 63, and Matt Damon, 54, have both undergone intense physical transformations to play the famous Greek Warrior Odysseus.
The sharp portrayal of Fiennes in Uberto Pasolini’s debut “Return” in December, while Damon is currently filming the most filled version of Christopher Nolan “Odyssey”.
Pictures of both those who looked Jacked recently went viral, given that buff stars are hardly spring chickens – making their bodies increasingly impressive.
Fiennes look good
For his part, Fiennes embraced a strict five-month training regime, telling his coach, Dan Avasilcai, that he wanted to look like “an old rope”.
“There is no gym in ancient Greece,” Pasolini told the Independent last month.
To achieve this wet, wet physique, Fiennes followed a strict regime that began at 5:30 am – six days a week – that included running, weight training and even ballet.
“At that age, the prevention of injury is everything,” Avasilcai told the UK Times. “You can’t train a 60-year-old like you a 20-year-old. The muscles, bones and their joints are different. I kept Ralph’s drills strict and safe. The shape is everything.”
The training began two and a half months before filming began in Corfu – reducing Fiennes weight from 176 pounds to 160 pounds on the day of one shooting.
Ambrosia, Lord’s food – or protein shocks, nutrition food?
It adhered to a strict protein-rich meal diet that included many lean meat, fish, Greek yogurt and protein shock-with some of the foods cooked by Avasilcai himself.
He also completely eliminated bread, sweets and alcohol – though he had a meal of deception here and there.
“Occasionally, I would surprise Ralph with our favorite Italian executioner,” Avasilcai said.
Other days, Fiennes should abstain from the water the night before and the day of the shooting to achieve that shattered appearance – for which Avasilcai emphasizes is not recommended.
“This look is only for a few days shooting the film,” he said. “It is not stable. In a normal routine, it is important to hydrate properly.”
Now he is just displaying
What is perhaps even more impressive than his torn physicist is the fact that Fiennes has continued this fitness and diet regime even though the shoots have long been completed, sharing photos and videos on his account X.
“He feels good,” Avasilcai Times told. “He has more energy, with no common pain and he is stronger than ever. He can make 17 pulls, 78 prints in a row and he is pressing on the bench [143 pounds]. At the age of 62, this is extraordinary. “
How to rip like Ralph – especially over 60
While the famous coach believes that someone over 60 can follow the steps of Fiennes, he also claims that “the main goal should be to become the best version of yourself – do not compare yourself to other people.
“And remember that with all the diet and fitness tips, there is no size of anyone suits everyone. Everyone is different and have different needs.”
This by saying, if you are a sixty of something that wants to look like Fiennes, Avasilcai recommends focusing on strength training, with elevators composed as meetings, lines and printing.
“Form, tempo and discipline – that’s what gets results,” he said.
He also advises holding exercises under an hour to give himself time to recover, and throwing in a few cardio three times a week – even if it’s just a quick walk.
“For people over the age of 50 or 60, or people with mobility issues or degenerative issues with age -old bones, running on a routine is safer than running out because it gives you a little suspension,” he said.
Wise from the diet, it is important to get more protein-especially if you are older-to help you maintain your muscles, adjust your blood sugar level and reduce desires, according to Avasilcai.
No matter how strange it may sound, it also recommends a small portion of healthy fuels – such as sweet potatoes, oats or accent bread – immediately in front of the bed, as they “help lower cortisol and improve sleep”, helping to recover while resting.
Finally, he suggests taking a sports massage three or four times a week to release toxins and give a small portion of exercises with focus. Try fasting after a night of overload to help digestion and avoid overtaking, otherwise “you will burn, damage yourself or simply lose motivation,” he said.
Damon’s disciplined physics
While less known about Damon’s current training for “Odyssey”, the action star is not a stranger for crazy physical transformations, having previously worked with coach Jason Walsh in several films in preparation for his shirtless scenes at “Jason Bourne” of 2016 “.
To get in extremely good condition at the age of 45 for the role, Damon made 100 landing, 300 push-up, 50 squats and 50 gatherings daily.
“He loves challenges,” Walsh says. “We reached the point where we were making 100 traction two or three times a week. We’ll see how many groups it takes to get 100. Once you lose some of that overweight, the withdrawals become much lighter. He was making 30-Ca withdrawal for the group.”
He also carried out 35 pounds naked at the waist and a single foot gathering with 125 pounds in each hand.
“He loves the challenges,” Walsh told Walsh – who also works with Jake Gyllenhaal, Milo Ventimiglia, Bradley Cooper and Brie Larson – for Men Health’s Health.
To improve its air conditioning, Damon included sprints in the Versaclimimber car and directions at long distances-involved through the streets of Dunhuang in northwestern China.
“People would see us like:” What the hell is happening? “,” Said Walsh.
But there have also been exercises they avoided to do – like the back of the barbell and heavy deadlift meetings – to avoid damage to his age.
“My biggest concern was for him to break down,” he said. “Holding it without injuries for two years straight, making action films, was the biggest achievement.”
Matt method
With nutritional wisdom, Damon’s chef provided about 2,000 calories a day during the shooting.
Like Fiennes, its water intake was strategically reduced to highlight muscle definition in front of specific scenes – a technique often used during shirtless sequences.
In a recent interview with ET, Ben Affleck joked for Damon’s viral photos without blouse in Favignana, Italy, saying: “Look at my husband trying to act as he didn’t know they were taking this picture … You came out there and bowed. Someone told the paparazzi there.”
“I have to respect it. It’s a lot of hard work,” he admitted. “It doesn’t get easier when you have a very long gray beard.”
So which Odysseus has more than that Trojan horsepower? It will be difficult to say until Nolan’s film comes out in 2026, but one thing is for sure: Fiennes and Damon are living evidence that a mind -minded physique that can be achieved at any age.
